Recap: New Haven can Wait
The GG crew heads to Yale for the weekend, and Jenny convinces Rufus to let her be homeschooled to pursue her fashion career (yawn)
Fashion Loser: Shockingly, all Blair! 1) Blair sleeping in what looked like a cocktail dress at the beginning of the episode (never classy to sleep in what you wore the night before, B) 2) Blair’s funeral-esque getup at the Dean’s dinner party, complete with huge horrendous bow and 3) Her mismatched skirt/blouse ensemble at the end. SERIOUS case of conflicting stripes.
Fashion Winner: Serena’s dress at the Dean’s dinner. A bit low-cut for a college visit, but it fit her like a glove. Take a gossip girl fashion quiz on this episode!
Worst moment(s): “The only real Ivies are the holy trinity—Harvard, Yale, and Princeton” –Blair. Sure, if you’re an elitist snob. Oops, forgot who was talking!
and
The Blair/Serena reconciliation. Like the Georgina story arc last season, Gossip Girl likes to build up great storylines and then diffuse them in the most anti-climactic way possible! After the stunt Blair pulled at the Dean’s dinner, I didn’t think it was gonna be possible for S to forgive her. Then they just make up, and resolve nothing. WTF, GG?
Best Moment: Blair’s jealous meltdown in the Dean’s office after being shocked by Serena: “My hair might not sparkle when the light hits it”
Best quote: “I’m tired of always looking like Darth Vader next to Sunshine Barbie”—Blair
OVERALL: B
Episode nearly completely ruined by last minute unrealistic Blair/Serena reunion. It’s like the writers get bored with a story line and don’t want to follow through.
Beyond that, classic episode: Loved chuck infiltrating skull and bones only to get dirt on its members, Nate dealing with the reality of his father’s embezzling, and Nate/Dan mistaken identities.
